The Osteo Exercises Video/DVD is a program of 42 exercises, covering warm-ups, light exercises, light weights and cool-downs, for people with or without osteoporosis and arthritis. The idea for the program came when Rosemary Pierse was diagnosed with osteopenia, (thinning of the bones) and could not find an exercise video relative to this condition. Following several months of research, she compiled the program shown on 'Osteo Exercises Video'. The program is designed to help build bone and muscle strength, improve flexability and balance, lessening the chance of a serious fall, which can often result in bone breakage. Originally designed for those with osteoporosis, many arthritis sufferers have also benefited from the program. In fact Osteo Exercises caters for anyone who needs a gentle daily workout. 'Osteo Exercises Video/DVD' is a program you can do at your own pace as you build up your strength.
Osteo Exercises Video/DVD has been featured in all major women's and health magazines in Australia including Woman's Day, New Idea, Wellbeing, Good Medicine, and has been accepted by many areas within the health professions. Even some physiotherapists are using the program for their patients.
The Video/DVD has been purchased by most community and hospital libraries in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. We are receiving regular feedback from people around the world who have been helped by the Video/DVD including many nursing homes and retirement villages who have organized their own regular programs .
Rosemary Pierse explains:
"I was originally diagnosed with Osteopenia following a bone density test, and immediately began to find out all I could regarding the condition.I was desperate to find ways to treat the condition and read all I could on the subject. I learned that 1 in 2 women and 1 in 3 men will develop osteoporosis in their lifetime.
I also discovered there are millions diagnosed throughout the world with osteoporosis and that it can occur in the young as well as the elderly. Over and over I heard the phrase light weight bearing exercises but I could find no exercise program on Video/DVD. I thought of how many people I could help if I made an exercise video for people in my position. The Video/DVD Osteo Exercises is the end result. With a combination of exercise and medication my Osteopinia has remained stable and I have not developed Osteoporosis.
